Edmonton Journal Article - EDMONTON - Amelie Oxford-Wall stood in a grocery cart at Safeway and crooned along with country singer Paul Brandt as he gave a concert among gladioli bouquets, boxes of Reese's Pieces and bottles of ginger ale.
"I'm a pretty big Paul Brandt fan," said 10-year-old Amelie, who drove 45 minutes with her mom, sister, brother and neighbours to catch Brandt during his cross-country tour to collect toys for needy children around the world.
She joined between 300 to 400 people from the Edmonton area
who showed up at Heritage Safeway on 109th Street and 23rd Avenue to catch sight of Brandt's classic black cowboy hat.
They clogged up the entrance to the grocery store, hung off the store shelving, held up their cellphones to take pictures and sang along to I'll Be Home for Christmas, as well as Brandt songs entitled Alberta Bound, A Gift and Christmas Convoy.

The Christmas Convoy has begun! To overwhelming response in Burnaby, B.C., fans spent an hour and a half following Paul's performance getting autographs and bringing their Operation Christmas Child shoe-box Christmas Gifts. In addition to hearing Paul perform live for free, fans were treated to an exclusive pre-listen to the soon to be released Paul Brandt Christmas album, 'A Gift'.
"This is an incredible kick off to the Christmas Convoy promotional tour! I'd like to thank Canada Safeway for their partnership in our Western stops, their dedication to Operation Christmas Child is wonderful, and we really appreciate their support," said Paul on his way to the Christmas Convoy Peterbuilt. "I'm excited to think about the thousands of children whose lives will be touched by this promotion. I'd also like to thank the fans that took the time to come down and bring their boxes and say hi, I appreciate it, and so do the children!"
