Give It Away (2011)
  • Continuing to advance his superstar status, the first public performance of the title track "Give It Away" was for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and the Prime Minister of Canada. His 10th album, "Give It Away" came at the same time as the "Now" Box Set, and the CMT Television series "Build It Forward" (for which "Give It Away is the theme song), and the launch of Paul's "Priceless Gift of Hope Foundation" (priceles$.). After a 4 year hiatus to write and start a family, this album finds Paul picking up where he left off, using his music to entertain, enlighten and inspire.
Give It Away
  • Ready or not Take your best shot
cause here life comes You use what you got
and you’ve got it all when you’ve got love
But we had it and we store it up
and there never seems to be enough

This world is spinning so fast
Ain’t no slowing it down now
And there ain’t a lot that lasts
But I think I’ve found a way to make love stay
You’ve got to give it away
    Give it away

Talk about time And it’s flown away before your done
And money is fine but one day it’s here the next day gone
So love is looking like a sure bet
Cause the more you give the more you get
This world is spinning so fast
Ain’t no slowing it down now
And there ain’t a lot that lasts
But I think I’ve found a way to make love stay

    Oh and someday everybody dies
    But not everybody really lives
And when it’s my turn to say goodbye
I don’t want nothing left to give
This world is spinning so fast
Ain’t no slowing it down now
And there ain’t a lot that lasts
But I think I’ve found it

This world is spinning so fast
Ain’t no slowing it down now
And there ain’t a lot that lasts
But I think I’ve found a way to make love stay
You’ve got to give it away
You’ve got to give it away
You’ve got to give it away
You’ve got to give it away

Now
  • I used to try to hold the future in my hands
Tried to make tomorrow turn out like I planned
And there’s no use in thinkin’ about yesterday
I can’t go back there anyway

It’s a ‘What have you done for me lately?’ world
    We only have today
Then it spins and turns And forever isn’t waiting
and time keeps counting down To Now

Gonna make a move like it’s my last stand
Draw my line deep in the sand
Gonna take my time, give my life to love
You can keep the fame and money cause there’s never enough

In this ‘What have you done for me lately?’ world
    We only have today
Then it spins and turns And all that’s gonna matter
when it comes back around is To Now

Oh, how we spend our moments is how we spend our lives
It’s a ‘What have you done for me lately?’ world
    We only have today
    Then it spins and turns
And all that’s gonna matter when it comes back around To Now

Together Again
  • I’m just a man on this spinning globe
Who am I What do I know
But I’ve got a feeling that even when the music ends
    Goodbye doesn’t say it all

There’s another play when the curtain falls
Were all rehearsing for forever but until then

    Whoah...oh..oh
I guess That’s just the way this old world works
Moments of heaven mixed with moments of hurt
I’ll be waiting til we are together again

Every things falling apart right now
But with all of the hope that my faith allows
I’ll be waiting til we are together again

The time we had was touched by God
and I’m thankful but I had a thought
I wondered why something so perfect ever has to end
I fall and pray and screamed out loud
But the silence never told me how
How to keep on living til we are together again

    Whoah...oh..oh
I guess That’s just the way this old world works
Moments of heaven mixed with moments of hurt
I’ll be waiting til we are together again

Every things falling apart right now
But with all of the hope that my faith allows
I’ll be waiting til we are together again
I’ll be waiting til we are together again
I’ll be waiting til we are together again

Worth
  • When the night falls into the darkness
when the moon turns it’s back on the sky
I’ll be there on the east horizon
I’ll be there in the nick of time

I’m gonna rise I’m gonna fight keep believin’
I’m gonna prove that you can count on me
I’m running across this battle line and I ain’t leavin’
I’d lay down my life cause that’s what you’re worth to me
    What your worth to me

I will stand by the word I gave you
til you see what a promise means
    I am your eleventh-hour rescue
I am the one who’ll set you free

I’m gonna rise I’m gonna fight keep believin’
I’m gonna prove that you can count on me
I’m running across this battle line and I ain’t leavin’
I’d lay down my life cause that’s what you’re worth to me
    What your worth to me

I’m gonna Rise I’m gonna Fight
I’m gonna prove that I’m gonna prove
that's what your worth to me
    I’m gonna Rise I’m gonna Fight I
    ’ll die for you
Cause that’s what your worth to me

You
  • There’s something bout the things you do
The way you smile the way you move
The way that you walk through a room
Can’t get it off my mind

In the day and in the night
In the dark and in the light
In the noise, and in the quiet
    It happens all the time

    And all I want
    All I ever think about
All I ever dream about Is You

At times when you’re not even there
    I still see you everywhere
It’s as if you have become the air
    and every time I breathe

    And all I want
    All I ever thing about
    All I ever dream about
    And all I want
    All I ever think about
All I ever dream about Is You

    And all I want
    All I ever think about
All I ever dream about Is You

Start With Love
  • Well your mom and me We think it’s pretty neat
How our love turned out this way
    When we heard your heart
    Oh, right from the start
    Both of us were changed
Watchin’ love grow a little more each day

If I could show you everything I’ve ever learned
    I’d start with love
Sum life’s meaning up into just one word
    I’d start with love

Oh and this can be a complicated life
But I’ve seen how everything will turn out right
    When you start with love

    It’sthe ABC’s and then 1 2 3
and daddy play with me right now
all these tiny things they add up pretty big
and that’s got me thinkin’ about how life’s too short
and how I wish time would slow down

If I could show you everything I’ve ever learned
    I’d start with love
Sum life’s meaning up into just one word
    I’d start with love

Oh and this can be a complicated life
But I’ve seen how everything will turn out right
    When you start with love
and the storms may come and the winds may blow
but if you’ll just remember this it’s all you’ll need to know

I Do - Revisited
  • I've seen the storm clouds in your past
But rest assured 'cause you are safe at home
at last I rescued you, you rescued me
And we're right where we should be
    when we're together

I know the questions in your mind
But go ahead and ask me one more time
You'll find the answer's still the same
It won't change from day to day for worse or better

Will I promise to be your best friend
And am I here until the end
Can I be sure I have been waiting for you
And did I say my love is true
    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do

I know the time will disappear
But this love we're building on will always be here
No way that this is sinking sand
On this solid rock we'll stand forever

Will I promise to be your best friend
And am I here until the end
Can I be sure I have been waiting for you
And did I say my love is true
    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do
Baby I will, I am, I can, I have Oh,
    I will, I am, I can, I have
    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do

Last First Kiss
  • The shadows fade
I see the light as you walk through
It’s like I’m blinded by the sun
Today All I see is you And from this moment on

I want you to be my one and only
I wanna hold you like this
I wanna lay down the sad and lonely
And take a chance to live
I want to you to see You’re all I need
I want you to be My Last First Kiss

So here we are On the edge
of all our days tryin to stare tomorrow down
Take this to heart that whatever this life brings
I’m givin’ you my word right now

I want you to be my one and only
I wanna hold you like this
I wanna lay down the sad and lonely
And take a chance to live
I want to you to see You’re all I need
I want you to be My Last First Kiss

I want you to be my one and only
I wanna hold you like this
I wanna lay down the sad and lonely
And take this chance to live
I want you to see You’re all I need

My Heart Has A History - Revisited
  • My heart has a history
Of hurtin' those who mean the most to me
Before you get too close to me
    I think you oughta know
While other hearts are holdin' on
While other loves are growin' strong
My heart has a history of lettin' go

The first time I looked into your eyes
I knew this moment would arrive
    I got a feelin' you're the one
But my heart keeps tryin' to turn and run
The problem is this happens everytime (cause)

    My heart has a history
Of hurtin' those who mean the most to me
Before you get too close to me
I think you oughta know While other hearts are holdin' on
While other loves are growin' strong
My heart has a history of lettin' go

If we can take this one kiss at a time
Then maybe we can tame this heart of mine
I'm telling you the cold, hard truth
I ain't ever been loved by the likes of you
And I ain't ever had this much on the line, but

    My heart has a history
Of hurtin' those who mean the most to me
Before you get too close to me I think you oughta know
While other hearts are holdin' on
While other loves are growin' strong
My heart has a history of lettin' go
Yeah, my heart has a history of lettin' go

The Highway Patrol
  • I got a star on my car and one on my chest,
A gun on my hip and the right to arrest
I'm the guy who's the boss on this highway
So watch out what you're doin'
    when you're drivin' my way

If you break the law, you'll hear from me, I know
I'm a-workin' for the state, I'm The Highway Patrol

Well, you'll know me when you see me,
'cause my door's painted white, With my siren a-screamin'
and my flashin' red lights I work all day and I work all night
Just a-keepin' law and order, tryin' to do what's right

If I write you out a ticket, then you'd better drive slow
I'm just a-doin' my job, I'm The Highway Patrol

I'm the highway patrol, the highway patrol,
My hours are long, and my pay is low
But I'll do my best to keep you driving slow
I'm just a-doin' my job, I'm The Highway Patrol

If your drivin' to fast like you shouldn't do,
You can bet your boots, I'm comin' after you
If you wanna race then get on a race track,
'Cause if you try and run away I'm gonna bring ya back

I'm here to keep all the speeders driving slow
I'm just a-doin' my job, I'm The Highway Patrol

I'm the highway patrol, the highway patrol,
My hours are long, and my pay is low
But I'll do my best to keep you driving slow
I'm just a-doin' my job, I'm The Highway Patrol
I'm just a-doin' my job I'm The Highway Patrol

RISK (2007) Listen Now
  • In the short span of a decade, his name has become synonymous with Alberta, independence, and quality, but these accolades haven’t come without a few twists and turns along the way. Ask him, and he’ll tell you they’ve been the product of years of give and take, faith, and grace, words from the first single, “Didn’t Even See The Dust”, off of the album “Risk”.
Didn't Even See the Dust
  • Shotgun
    Everybody get in for the
    Long run
don't know where we're goin but the
    outcome
comes with a little bit of trust
    Let's go
    followin' whatever way the
    wind blows
flying with our hands out of the
    window we
    Didn't even see the Dust

    see how far we'd get
    driving straight ahead
Getting lost didn't seem to matter much
    All we had was time
    and a yellow line
    Looking back
We Didn't even see the Dust

    (chorus)

    we had ups and downs
    we got spun around
but we held on when the going got a little tough
    it took love and faith
    and some give and take
    and grace
No, We Didn't even see the Dust

Come On & Get Some
  • I love the Country
    I ain't never gonna change
Like to get my hands dirty
Like to do it my own way
But don't go lookin down on me
Cause I like my chicken fried
    A my my.

    Come on and get some
Is what I'd hear my mamma say
After working out in the fields
    Hoein rows or bailin hay
That's how it is out here
    Honest work for honest pay
    A Hey hey

    Cause I'm loud
    And I'm proud
Like to get up in my pick-up and get down
Flying round the back-roads is how I like to spend my time
    I can hang barbed-wire
    I love big tires
And havin' fun when my chores are done
But if you think 'cause I'm from the country that I'm dumb
    Come on and Get Some

    Ain't been to college yet
    I ain't got no PhD
    But I've got knowledge yeah
    Beyond what most folks see
So if you need the job done right
Well you know where I'll be
    A whoo eeeee

    (Chorus)

    Just me and
    Verline
    Neath the corn rows
    plantin' dreams
    Aw Shucks

Virtual Life
  • I'm bored
    I need a new topic
search the world for another subject
and by the time I find it I've forgotten where I was
    iPod and a plasma TV
    on the latest reality series
surf the web and I M a bit
    while I'm on my cell-phone

    I'm high def
    and I'm proud of it
and tivo doesn't skip a bit
if I fall asleep I know that I won't ever miss a thing
    rewind, record and slow mo
    satellite and digital cable
    wi-fi, I'm high speed
got a Brooks & Dunn Ringtone

    But you can't upload love
    And you can't download time
You can't google all life's answers
But everything is gonna be alright
    Cause I love you honey
and what we've got's the genuine
    real deal
    This ain't no
    Virtual Life

    I need a break
    from technology
I think I owe you an apology
I've analyzed our data to quantize the way I feel
    been thinking maybe I should
hold you now that would feel real good
a real female instead of e-mail sounds alright to me

    Old school
    Yeah, a little old fashioned
still don't know how it happened
but now we got 3 kids, a car, and a mortgage of our own
I think I finally got the lowdown
Sometimes we just need to slowdown
take time to smell the roses, pet a dog
    and be in love

Ain't nothin like the real thing

Worth Fighting For
  • We've been around in circles 'bout a thousand times
babe it's been so long, and I just don't know why
Does it really even matter who is wrong or right
    anymore?
I can't believe I spoke to you that way
And I'm trying to forget the words I heard you say
how our two hearts are holding this much hate and blame
    I don't know

    I know I can't remember
No I don't know the reason why
    we ever started fighting anymore
If we could just loose the temper
and find a way to be more tender
Our love is just too strong to ignore
    And that's worth fighting for

It's just foolish pride to hold these feelings back
Cause I look into your eyes and I'm a helpless man
I know you hate it when I try to make you laugh
    even so
I want to hold you like I've never done
say I'm sorry long before tomorrow morning comes
show you how I know that I'm the lucky one
    Cause babe I know

Risk Master
  • I'd rather stand on the edge of a cliff
hang my toes over a bit
and then jump when they dare me
    even if it scares me
    and I get hurt
I'd rather build my wings on the way down
do my best not to fall to the ground
and then laugh at my mistakes
cause they're only lessons I'll learn

    I'd rather burn with desire
    deep in my soul
and love like a fire that's
    out of control
    and laugh
    and dance
    and fall
    and chance
    and kiss
I'd rather live my whole life
    with a sense of abandon
    squeeze every drop out
    no matter what happens
and not wonder what I missed
    I'd rather
    Risk
Oh I just can't resist the chance to
    Risk

Well I guess I could just play it safe
and forget about love hope and faith
with my eye on the shoreline
    keeping my boat tied
    and stayin' home
But I'll never discover new land
by keeping my feet on the sand
    No I'd rather set sail
And get carried away by the storm

Country Girl
  • She's been in 4-H since she was nine years old
She wears overalls and has a heart of gold
She likes ATV'S and trucks, and fishin holes
But she's got a tender side

She don't let nobody tell her what to do
She thinks Jimmy Thompson's smile is kinda cute
She loves her mom and dad and she love's Jesus too
Well some things you just can't hide

    She's a wild rose
    Pretty as a picture and
    hard to hold
    off to chase the chickens
    She’s a little tom-boy
    but ain't she beautiful
    Look out world She
    Ain't afraid
    running round barefoot
    hair up in braids
but man does she look good
    A little tom-boy
    but ain't she beautiful
    She's a Country Girl

Her mom and them just shake their heads when she runs by
she can't help but turn the head of every guy
If daddy even thinks about that day he cries
    but whatcha gonna do?

Then the day her daddy dreaded finally came
the church, the gown, that boy, the rings. the weddin cake
She might be all grown up, but nothin's really changed

Hold On
  • It will find you at the bottom of a bottle
It will find you at the needle's end
It will find you when you beg and steal and borrow
It will follow you into a stranger's bed

It will find you when they serve you with the papers
It will find you when the locks have changed again
It will find you when you've called in all your favors
It will meet you at the bridge's highest ledge

So baby don't look down- it's a long way
The sun will come around to a new day

    So hold on
    Love will find you
    Hold on
    He's right behind you now
    Just turn around
    And love will find you

It will find you when the doctor's head is shaking
It will find you in a boardroom mostly dead
It will crawl into the foxhole where you're praying
It will curl up in your halfway empty bed

So baby don't believe that it's over
Maybe you can't see 'round the corner

To hang between two thieves in the darkness
Love must believe you are worth it
    You're worth it

Learning How To Let It Go
  • I've spent most my life
holdin on with all my might
I pull the reigns too tight
till I kill the thing I got
    you'd think by now I'd
have this figured out with everything that we've been through together
Oh, this love can't really fly until I get the courage up to cut the string

I'm Learnin How To Let It Go
I'm learnin now that I was just a fool
to ever think I had control
You took me heart and soul
Now I'm learnin how to let it
I'm learnin how to let it go

    I've been wasting time
so I hope somehow you'll find
A way to walk the line
you've had so much patience with me
you're the only one I want
you're all I need so here I am down on my knees
Go on and take me everything I have and all I am I give to you

This die-hard heart of mine always forgets
You never have it all unless you let it go

You took me heart and soul
I'm learnin how to let it
I'm learnin how to let it go

Scars are Beautiful
  • I've got this little scar that left it's mark down underneath my chin
from when I fell off of my bike back when I was just a kid
and oh, the pain, and how I cried, and I still remember how it bled
I know I won't forget that time and what my daddy said

    Don't cry
    It'll get better
    In time
    You'll soon forget
    You'll be fine
    right now it hurts some
but the healing hasn't happened yet
    The pain
    won't always be there
    and someday
    after the fall
These scrapes and scratches will remind you
of the hurt you left behind and you'll see that
    Scars are beautiful

Each scar is living proof, ya they tell the truth 'bout places that you've been
They’re all roadmaps to life's lessons made by sacrifice and sin
And you can let 'em bring you down or you can hold your head up high
Don't let the chance you took to fall keep you from the chance you take to try

A Friend Like This
  • I know what you're going through
there were times I've been there too
we all need a shoulder to cry on
    all those worries and anxieties
just let me put your mind at ease
cause the night is always darkest before the dawn

    Yeah it's alright
    it's gonna be ok
you don't have to worry anymore
    Yeah it's alright
just let me light up the way
you never had a friend like this before

Sometimes it seems the road ahead
is twists and turns and all dead ends
it's hard to know which way to go
But I will be your life long friend
the one on whom you can depend
even when it seems like you're alone

    Because it's alright
    yeah, it's gonna be ok
you don't have to worry anymore
    Yeah it's alright
It’s gonna be a brighter day
you don't have to worry anymore
you never had a friend like this before

    Because it's alright
    yeah, it's gonna be ok
you don't have to worry anymore
    Yeah it's alright
It’s gonna be a bright new day
you don't have to worry anymore

The Little Space Between
  • It's now or never
    Don't hesitate
It ain't true that good things come
    to those who wait

    Before forever
    Takes all our time
    We just spend moments
    Till we spend our lives

    Get 'er done
    Get to it
Cause there's only one time through it
There's only one thing we're all heading for
    It goes 1972 dash then
    You leave your legacy
    In that little space between

    Have you forgiven
    Did you forget
    Is it worth keeping
    All those regrets
    And is there someone
Who gave it all for you
    Don't that make you
Want to give it your all to?

    You spend your money
    You take each breath
    You steal some kisses
    You give and get
    and then it goes

Out Here On My Own
  • The high-wire act is done
    Safety net, don’t need one
Once you fall, it’s freedom and a song
I’m out here on my own

    Out here on my own
With the Lord to guide me
And your prayers behind me, I feel strong
I’m out here on my own

And as I dream of you beside me
Love and faith still lead me through
And every road I take reminds me
    I’m comin’ home to you

    Out here on my own
    If the spotlights dimmer
    And the crowds grow thinner
    And I’ll be home for
    Dinner
    With my songs
Instead of out here on my own
I’m out here on my own

A Gift (2007) Listen Now
  • Sleigh bells ring, angels sing, and the Convoy rides again, Christmas Convoy, that is...

The follow up to the Platinum selling studio album 'This Time Around' is Paul Brandt's second Christmas project, 'A Gift'. It is his first Christmas album on Brand-T Records, and is a stunning set of traditional, contemporary, and original music.
Let it Snow
  • Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've bought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

    When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

    The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bying,
But as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

A Gift
  • On the other side of the world
    there's a little boy or a girl
who's never heard about A Gift
or of Christmas or even what that is

That must have been how it seemed
back before that old manger scene
back before the world even knew
about Jesus and what he would do

It must have been so dark and cold
there must have been so little hope
Sometimes I wonder where I'd be
If no one had sent A Gift to me

But wrapped in mercy, grace and love
A Gift was sent from up above
    Unconditional and free
    That Little Gift changed everything

On the other side of the world
    there's a little boy or a girl
Who all because of A Gift
    Finally knows what Christmas is

White Christmas
  • I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
    Where the treetops glisten,
    And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

Christmas Convoy
  • Ah Breaker one nine, this here's the lead reindeer, you got a copy on me Frosty come on? Ah ya 10-4 there Frosty, fer sure fer sure, by golly sure hope we still have a holly jolly one come on? Yeah that's a big 10 4 there Frosty, yeah we definitely got our hands full tonight good buddy, mercy sakes alive we need a Christmas Convoy!

It was the dark of the moon,
    and it was Christmas soon
    Only a day away
    D.O.T. was cracking down
and the toys had been delayed
we were stuck in a drift at the ol' North Pole
    with eight mighty anxious reindeer
and if Santa didn't get some help
    Christmas wouldn't come this year

    We need a Christmas Convoy
    this ain't no silent night
    We need a Christmas Convoy
    jingle bells and Christmas lights
Come on and join the Convoy
and nothing's gonna get in our way
    Santa and his Christmas Convoy
in his great big Peterbuilt sleigh
    Christmas Convoy

Breaker Frosty this here's ol' red nose, yeah you wanna move it on over for Santa? Yeah 10-4, he's greasy side up but we're bout' to turn this salt-shaker out

well we all pulled outta the 'ol North Pole
    ears on, eyes open wide
we were shaking the bushes, lookin for bear
    in our triple digit ride
That wiggle wagon had his bird dog on as it hovered 'bove the ground
red green and white for chicken lights
decked out and loud and proud

Ah Frosty, yeah we're 10-33 and back door now, you're gonna hafta back off the hammer a bit cause we're double nickle and 'bout to hit the big road

Well the big elf blew the doors off
    his eight reindeer powered ride
and flew on past the bear's den
    in Georgia Overdrive
when on the black ice up ahead
there proved to be a pinch
    a barricading roadblock
had been set up by the Grinch
Well there were teddy bears and cars and trucks and toys of every size
teetering out of the top of Santa's shiny ride
but Santa couldn't back 'em up
    no matter what the cost
cause if he let that 'ol Grinch stop us
this year's Christmas would be lost

Ah Rudolph to Santa's Better Half, ah ya Mrs. Clause you're gonna wear your bumper out if you don't back off a bit, we're coming up on antler alley, and we need all the help we can get

The grinch and all his henchmen
lined up on the road ahead
And Santa rolled his window down
and his nose and cheeks turned red
He pulled his hat on low and tight
    and put the hammer down
and with a ho ho ho, he was slingin snow
singin Santa Claus is coming to town!

Yeah 10-4 Frosty what's your twenty? Guitar Town! Well they oughta know
what to do with them toys down there for sure, well mercy sakes good
buddy we gonna back on outa here, so keep the Grinch off your back, and
the toys in the sack, we'll catch you next Christmas, this here's ol red nose
in the lead, we gone, bye bye!

Hands
  • It is the greatest story ever told
The Prince leaves his palace and his noble throne
To fight a battle for his subject’s souls
The fate of the world in his royal hands

And it was an unlikely battleground
With the cows and the sheep and the shepherds gathered round
As Mary held him her heart began to pound
The weight of the world in a baby’s hands

Betrayed by the very hearts he came to save
Father forgive them someone heard him say
Then like a gift He gave his life away
Held out to the world with His nail-pierced hands

The Hands that put the stars in place, bound by hands He made

When people ask what Christmas means to me
I think of the Prince up on that Christmas tree
I tell them about how His love set me free
When He changed my life with a touch of His hands
    With His hands

Got Tell It On The Mountains
  • When I was a seeker
I sought both night and day,
I asked the Lord to help me,
And he showed me the say.

Go tell it on the mountain,
    Over the hills and everywhere,
Go tell it on the mountain,
    Our Jesus Christ is born.

    He made me a watchman
    Upon that city wall,
And if I am a Christian,
I am the least of all. (Cause it was Him that told me to)

Go tell it on the mountain,
    Over the hills and everywhere,
Go tell it on the mountain,
    Our Jesus Christ is born.

I'll Be Home For Christmas
  • I'm dreaming tonight of a place I love
Even more than I usually do
And although I know it's a long road back
    I promise you

    I'll be home for Christmas
    You can count on me
    Please have snow and mistletoe
    And presents by the tree

    Christmas eve will find you
    Where the love light gleams
    I'll be home for Christmas
    If only in my dreams

Winter Wonderland
  • Sleigh bells ring
    are you listening?
    in the lane
    snow is glistening
    A beautiful sight
    we're happy tonight
    walking in a winter wonderland

    Gone away is the bluebird
here to stay is a new bird
    He sings a love song
    as we go along
    walking in a winter wonderland

In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
    He'll say: Are you married?
    we'll say: No man
But you can do the job
    when you're in town

    Later on
    we'll conspire
as we dream by the fire
    To face unafraid
    the plans that we've made
    walking in a winter wonderland

(Ah, just look at this place, there’s snow men, and new birds, and you, and me, I think we should stay a while… isn’t it wonderful?)

Mary Did You Know
  • Mary did you know
That your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would save our sons and daughters?

Did you know that your baby boy
    Has come to make you new;
    The child that you delivered
    Will soon deliver you?

Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Will calm the storm with His hand?

Did you know that your baby boy
    Has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby,
You kiss the face of God!
    Oh Mary did you know?

    Oh Mary did you know?
The blind will see, the deaf will hear
    The dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak
    The praises of the Lamb.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy
    is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Will one day rule the nations?

Did you know that your baby boy
    Is Heaven's perfect Lamb?
    The sleeping child you're holding
    Is the great I Am!

We Three Kings
  • We three kings of Orient are;
    Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
    Following yonder star.

O star of wonder, star of light
    Star with royal beauty bright,
    Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.

Born a King on Bethlehem’s plain
Gold I bring to crown Him again,
    King forever, ceasing never,
    Over us all to reign.

    Frankincense to offer have I;
    Incense owns a Deity nigh;
    Prayer and praising, voices raising,
    Worshipping God on high.

    Myrrh is mine,
    Its bitter perfume
    Breathes a life of gathering gloom;
    Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
Sealed in the stone cold tomb.

    Glorious now behold Him arise;
    King and God and sacrifice;
    Alleluia, Alleluia,
Sounds through the earth and skies.

  • Ah, breaker one-nine, this here's the Rubber Duck. You gotta copy on me, Pig Pen, c'mon? Ah, yeah, 10-4, Pig Pen, fer shure, fer shure. By golly, it's clean clear to Flag Town, c'mon. Yeah, that's a big 10-4 there, Pig Pen, yeah, we definitely got the front door, good buddy. Mercy sakes alive, looks like we got us a convoy...

Was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June
    In a Kenworth pullin' logs
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on
    And a Jimmy haulin' hogs
We is headin' for bear on I-one-oh
'Bout a mile outta Shaky Town
I says, "Pig Pen, this here's the Rubber Duck.
"And I'm about to put the hammer down."

'Cause we got a little convoy
    Rockin' through the night.
Yeah, we got a little convoy,
    Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
    'Cross the U-S-A.
    Convoy!

Ah, breaker, Pig Pen, this here's the Duck. And, you wanna back off them hogs? Yeah, 10-4, 'bout five mile or so. Ten, roger. Them hogs is gettin' in-tense up here.

By the time we got into Tulsa Town,
We had eighty-five trucks in all.
But they's a roadblock up on the cloverleaf,
    And them bears was wall-to-wall.
    Yeah, them smokies is thick as bugs on a bumper;
They even had a bear in the air!
I says, "Callin' all trucks, this here's the Duck.
"We about to go a-huntin' bear."

'Cause we got a great big convoy
    Rockin' through the night.
Yeah, we got a great big convoy,
    Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
    'Cross the U-S-A.
    Convoy!

Ah, you wanna give me a 10-9 on that, Pig Pen? Negatory, Pig Pen; you're still too close. Yeah, them hogs is startin' to close up my sinuses. Mercy sakes, you better back off another ten.

Well, we rolled up Interstate 44
Like a rocket sled on rails.
We tore up all of our swindle sheets,
And left 'em settin' on the scales.
By the time we hit that Chi-town,
    Them bears was a-gettin' smart:
    They'd brought up some reinforcements
    From the Illinoise National Guard.
There's armored cars, and tanks, and jeeps,
    And rigs of ev'ry size.
Yeah, them chicken coops was full'a bears
    And choppers filled the skies.
Well, we shot the line and we went for broke
    With a thousand screamin' trucks
An' eleven long-haired Friends a' Jesus
    In a chartreuse micra-bus.

Ah, Rubber Duck to Sodbuster, come over. Yeah, 10-4, Sodbuster? Lissen,
you wanna put that micra-bus in behind that suicide jockey? Yeah, he's
haulin' dynamite, and he needs all the help he can get.

Well, we laid a strip for the Jersey shore
And prepared to cross the line
I could see the bridge was lined with bears
    But I didn't have a dog-goned dime.
I says, "Pig Pen, this here's the Rubber Duck.
"We just ain't a-gonna pay no toll."
So we crashed the gate doing ninety-eight
I says "Let them truckers roll, 10-4."

'Cause we got a mighty convoy
    Rockin' through the night.
Yeah, we got a mighty convoy,
    Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
    'Cross the U-S-A.

Convoy! Ah, 10-4, Pig Pen, what's your twenty?
Convoy! OMAHA? Well, they oughta know what to do with them hogs out there fer shure. Well, mercy
Convoy! sakes, good buddy, we gonna back on outta here, so keep the bugs off your glass and the bears off your...
Convoy! tail. We'll catch you on the flip-flop. This here's the Rubber Duck on the side.
    Convoy! We gone. 'Bye,'bye.

  • Front porch light would be turned on
And I was always gone too long
    Curfew was at 10pm
And I’d sneak in trying not to wake him when I got
    Home
Daddy always said I was half a bubble off plumb
Head-strong and stubborn, and maybe I was
Yeah, I couldn’t wait to leave
Last place I in the world I wanted to be was
    Home

Now I’m flying down that old dirt road
But it seems these wheels are spinning slow
I’d never left that way if I’d have only known
He’s gone, so here I am
    Home

I sat in my car and cried
Wished to God he was still alive
    Inside, mama wiped my tears
She said, He would have been so happy that you’re here at Home
Then I thought about my life
And about my kids and about my wife
And about how time just flies no matter what you do
And every soccer game I have missed
And every time I fight when I could forgive
And how I can’t let it come to this
    When I get home

Now I’m flying down that old dirt road
But it seems these wheels are spinning slow
And it’s taken me a while but now I finally know
Everything that matters most is at

Alberta Bound
  • Sign said 40 miles to Canada
    My truck tore across Montana
Ian Tyson sang a lonesome lullaby

And so I cranked up the radio
Cause there’s just a little more to go
For I’d cross the border at that Sweet Grass sign

    I’m Alberta Bound
This piece of heaven that I’ve found
Rocky Mountains and black fertile ground
Everything I need beneath that big blue sky
    Doesn’t matter where I go
This place will always be my home
Yeah I’ve been Alberta Bound for all my life
And I’ll be Alberta Bound until I die

It’s a pride that’s been passed down to me
Deep as coal mines, wide as farmer’s fields
Yeah, I’ve got independence in my veins

Maybe it’s my down-home redneck roots
Or these dusty ‘ol Alberta boots
But like a Chinook wind keeps coming back again

Run to Me
  • When you’re all alone in the dark
And it’s hard not to be afraid
When your candle’s losing it’s spark (when you’re losing hope in your heart)
And it seems that you can’t find your way
Look straight ahead, don’t cry and don’t look back
Leave your regrets behind you in the past

    Run to me
    I will always be
The hand you can hold when you’re lonely and cold
I will warm you I adore you
    You’re always in my heart
    No matter where you are
When it’s love you need (Come to me)
Baby you can run to me

    Nothing you ever say
And nothing you could ever do
Is gonna change the way (Is gonna drive me away)
That I’ll always be loving you
I’ll be your sky, I’ll be a soft place to fall
    Baby this love is unconditional

When it’s midnight on a winding road
And you don’t know where you are or where to go
Through the rain, call my name,
And I will run to you.

  • The other day
    I got in a fight
In involved me and my foot in my mouth
    And my wife
    Then I got to thinking
    Wouldn’t it be grand
If with every word I said
My wish was the world’s command

    I’d be the king
    I’d be the top
    I’d give myself a raise
    Throw my own parade
Number one, the chief, the boss
    I’d be the king

    No honey-do list
I’d make all the rules (I’d rule)
Whatever I say is the way that it goes
    That’d be cool
    And I’d go fishing
Or maybe watch sports on TV
And folks would carry me around
And I’d get to wear a crown
And I’d never spend a day on my feet
    Chorus-solo-rpt chorus

    I’d be living large
    I’d be in charge
& the world would bow to me
    I’d be the king

    It happened again
    I got in a fight
In involved me and my foot in my mouth
    And my wife

Live Now
  • I heard it from a newborn baby
Loud and clear in that first breath of air
I heard it when grandpa was dying
    It was faintly there

    Live now
    Live now

I guess it really is quite simple
Sometimes it’s easier said than done
But all the cool rain does is fall down
And all the river does is run
(all we really have to do is)

    Live now
    Live now

    We’re not promised tomorrow
Like vapor, this these days here are fading away
Baby, this time I’m holding you is borrowed
But every second by God’s grace, I’m gonna
    Live Now

    I’ve learned I can’t control the future
I’ve learned I must forgive the past somehow
Cause we are here only a moment
And life’s too short not to live now

Rich Man
  • I look in the mirror
    Don’t see much
Fashion sense a little out of touch
The house is run down as the bills pile up
    But I’m rich man

    Breakfast table
    Morning rush
Sometimes it seems we barely have enough
But if it’s true that you need is love
    Then I’m a rich man

    When she smiles
    Or they call me daddy
All the worries of the world just seem to fade away
    I’m alive
    And I know what matters
If this is all I ever have (well that’s ok,) I’m proud to say
    I’m a rich man

    So every morning
    And brand new day
With each and every single breath I take
I’m blessed and I’m thankful, yeah I’ve got it made
Oh, I’m so glad life turned out this way

I’ve loved, I’ve been loved, show me someone else with as much as me

I Still Do
  • It’s in the way you move me
The way you look right through me
Still brings me down to my knees
    Every time you smile
And after all this time love
It’s still hard to get enough
From the very first time I thought you were the one
Who’d make all of my dreams come true

    I still do
I’m still amazed every time that we kiss
    I still do
I’m never gonna stop feeling like this
Like the first time that I fell for you
    I still do

They all might say we’re crazy
Sometimes I think we may be
When I think about the way we
    Live like life’s a dare
I’d lay my life down for you
I’d do anything to prove it’s true

I’d lay my life down for you
I’d do anything to prove it’s true

This Time Around
  • This time around
Is the only time you get
    Like an hourglass
That cain’t never be turned again
    Once it’s done
All you are is who you’ve been
    So I’m diving in
    Sink or swim
    This time around

    This time around
Gonna love with all my heart
    Do my best
Not to finish where I start
    No regrets
Set my course among the stars
    No looking back
    No point in that
    This time around

Each waking moment’s what you make it
Don’t let a minute pass you by
This is the only chance so take it
All you have to do is spread your wings and fly
    This time around

    This time around
All I ever want to do
    Is hold on loosely
    To everything but you
    And at the end
After all that we’ve been through
    I’ll know in my soul
    That I had it all
    This time around

That's What I Love About Jesus
  • I’ve had people say
That I’m a self made man
I’d like to set the record straight
Because I never could have planned
The way my life has gone
    And the blessings I’ve received
It had nothing to do with me
I love to sing and play
    And travel with these songs
But I’ve got to give the praise
Back to where it all belongs
    Before I was even born
He knew what my job would be
He made me who I am for all the world to see

That’s what I love about Him
That’s why I talk about Him
And friend I’d be lost with out Him
He makes this world make sense to me
    He let his life end
Just so he could be my friend
That’s what I love about Jesus

Now it doesn’t make me perfect
    Or any better than you
And yes He is a crutch
    And He’s my wheelchair too
Cause I can’t do it on my own
He gives me all my strength
His power helps me make it through each day
So if you hear this song
You’ve got to make a choice
    To just keep rolling along
    Or listen to His voice
Since I gave my heart to Him
    I have been set free
And He’s made all the difference to me

Small Towns and Big Dreams (2001)Listen Now
  • Produced by Rosen and Brandt, this 2002 CCMA Album of the Year is one of Paul's most unique albums. Recorded in the transition and turmoil of an industry in upheaval, this project was a turning point for Paul. Not long after leaving Warner/Reprise Records, Paul set out to record a live album of previously unrecorded songs, a shaky proposition at best. The fans and Canadian Radio, along with CMT Canada, all rallied behind this project to make it huge success and incredible land-mark for Paul's career and his label, Brand-T Records.
Small Towns & Big Dreams
  • I grew up in a small town
    A wheat-fields-for-a-downtown kind of place
There was really not much around
You blink and you miss it
I never knew what life would bring
But I always had big dreams
I’d love to play my guitar and sing
And every night I’d wish that
I’d get a shot on the Opry stage
And have people come and see me play
    Blastin’ on the radio waves
Enough to make my mama cry

    That’s where I come from
    That’s who I am
    Hard-workin’ and God-blessed
Yes sir, and thank you ma’am
The best things around that I have ever seen
Came from small towns & big dreams

That small town went and grew up
But I never changed much by God’s grace
Friends and family kept in touch
    When I moved to Tennessee
I sing my songs and travel round
I met a girl and we’re settling down
We want to find a small town
Where we can raise a family (cause)

Been around the world don’t matter anywhere I go
From small town stars to city lights I’ve found my kind of folks
It’s about you and who you are, it’s all a state of mind
And as I’m givin’ you my heart I hope you find that

I'm Gonna Fly
  • 7 years old in my radio flyer
red cape tied around my neck
top of Thompson’s hill, Billy said I was a liar
and now I’m scared half to death
Becky said Billy was dumb I shouldn’t listen to him
but I had something to prove
ain’t nobody gonna call me a chicken
gotta do what you gotta do

    I’m gonna fly
    Defying space and gravity
    I’m gonna fly
Billy just you wait and see

I was just a kid, barely 18 years
And I couldn’t wait to graduate
Confident and cocky, and man, it really got me
When I heard my daddy say
“you oughta get some knowledge, you gotta go to college,
gotta make something of your life.”
But I had to do it my way, so I headed for the highway
And I followed those little white lines

    I’m gonna fly
    Defying space and gravity
    I’m gonna fly
    Making my own destiny

I crashed and burned, but I don’t regret it
You only fail when you don’t try
Gonna brush off the ashes and just forget it
I’m ain’t perfect yet but you can bet someday I’m gonna get my wings and fly

    I’m gonna fly
    Defying space and gravity
    I’m gonna fly
    You gotta believe
    I’m gonna fly
    Making my own destiny
    I’m gonna fly
    You gotta believe

Take It Off
  • If you’ve got worry on your mind
And pain that’s pilin’ up inside your heart
    Take it off
If the peace that you’ve been tryin’ to find
Is held down by a load of lies and scars
    Take it off
    Take it off

There’s a place that we all try to hid
Covered up with guilt and pride we walk
    Take it off
Just leave your crooked past behind
Look straight into my lovin’ eyes and let’s talk
    Take it off

Now baby I ain’t talkin’ ‘bout sexuality
Just close your eyes and lay your naked heart down next to me
Let’s wrap ourselves in truth and honesty
    And Take it off
    (solo)

Now baby I ain’t talkin’ ‘bout sexuality
Just close your eyes and lay your naked heart down next to me
Let’s wrap ourselves in truth and honesty

If the pressure’s builin’ in on you
I’ll be there to help you through, I’ll try
    To Take it off

Warm Sunny Beaches
  • I’m fed up with my work
And the boss is a jerk
It feels like I’m wasting my time
    In a dead-end job
    I’m having to rob
Peter to pay Paul a dime
Why don’t we jump in my car
    Just to see how far
This ol’ beat up rambler will drive
And trade it all in for the
Taste of tequila and lime (and)

    Warm sunny beaches
Follow the wind where it blows
    Tall palm trees greet us
    Blue ocean waving hello
    You could be my senorita
Oh and I’ll never let you go
    Drinkin’ cold marguerites
    On the warm sunny beaches
    In Mexico

    Every sunny day
We could laugh at the way
We used to live nine to five
    In a hammock-swing
    We’ll forget everything
Nothing but love on our minds
    And after siesta
    We’ll have a fiesta
    And party until morning-time
And when the sun comes up (stops)
we’ll be singing out Ay ay ay ay! (on)

Cry If You Want To
  • Cry if you want to
I won’t tell you not to
I won’t try to cheer you up
I’ll just be here if you want me

    There’s no use in keeping
    A stiff upper lip
You can weep you can sleep
    You can loosen your grip
You can frown, you can drown,
and go down with the ship, you can
    Cry if you want to

Don’t ever apologize venting your pain
It’s something to me you don’t need to explain
I don’t need to know why
    I don’t think it’s insane, you can
    Cry if you want to

    The windows are closed,
    The neighbors aren’t home
If it’s better with me than to do it alone,
I’ll draw all the curtains and unplug the phone, you can
    Cry if you want to

You can stare at the ceiling and
    Tear at your hair
Swallow your feelings and stagger and swear
You can show things and throw things
And I wouldn’t care, you can
    Cry if you want to

No, I won’t make fun of you
    I won’t tell anyone
I won’t analyze what you do or you should have done
I won’t advise you to go and have fun, you can
    Cry if you want to

Well it’s empty and ugly and terribly sad
I can’t feel what you feel, but I know it feels bad
I know that it’s real and it makes you so mad
    You could cry

    Cry if you want to
I won’t tell you not to
I won’t try to cheer you up
I’ll just be here if you want me to be near you

If This Isn't Love
  • If this isn’t love
    What else could it be
    What’s happened to you
    What’s happening to me
    If this isn’t love
    What else is so strong
    Or feels half as good
    Or last’s half as long

Now I am not an expert
    On matters such as this
Romance has always left me in the dark
But with each brush of your sweet touch
    And every lingering kiss
I think that Cupid’s finally found his mark

    Could it be a bug
    Or maybe the flu
    That’s going around
You say that you’ve got it too

    If this isn’t love
    What else could it be
    If this isn’t love
    Then it’s alright with me

    If this isn’t love
    Then it’s alright with me

When You Call My Name
  • Give me a moment
    To try to explain it
    And how it has changed
    The man that I am
    Life has a way
When you try to arrange it
    Of making a fool
    Of the best-laid plans
Guess what I'm tryin to say, is that you took me by surprise
One word is all that it takes, and forever's on my mind
    It happens every time

    I hear the sweetest sound
    My world stops turnin round
    Like I'm on holy ground
    When you call my name
It sets the sky on fire
    Burnin with my desire
    Stronger, deeper, higher
    When you call my name

The way that it moves me
    It's simply amazing
    Somehow it seems
    Much bigger than words
    When you call my name
    Angels start singing
    Most beautiful sound
    That I ever heard
And it starts all over again, this feeling deep inside
A blessed chain of events, a heaven sent design
    It happens every time

    When you call my name
    Ahhh…
    When you call my name
    Oooo…
    It happens every time

It's All Good
  • I get paid peanuts
    Ah, what a life
I live for lottery tickets and Friday night
And hoping that someday I’ll get it right
    But it’s all good

    In-laws, out-laws,
    Baby cries
Three in the morning with bloodshot eyes
It’s a lot more work than I realized
    But it’s all good

Sometimes it’s hard to see the positive at all
Little things pile up this they’re a lot
Stress and pressure builds and gets uncomfortable
Until you get your shorts tied in a knot
    But it’s all good

It’s easy feeling like you’ve really lost control
When things fall all apart and come unwound
But you can stand all day just staring at the obstacles
Or you can try to find a way to get around

Now I love you, and you love me
Ain’t got much money, but I feel like a king
And even if I could I wouldn’t change a thing
    Cause it’s all good
I look at this big beautiful world and I just have to think
    That it’s all good

Virgil & The Holy Ghost
  • Me and Virgil were best of friends
    Brothers til the very end
Made a pact one sunny afternoon
    Down by Coalpepper Creek
    Fishing holes and skipping rocks
Down the railroad tracks we’d talk
‘bout girls & cars & hopes & dreams
the way our lives would be
& we swore we’d never change
we would always be the same

    Virgil met the Holy ghost
    A little younger than most
At the Jeelapy Pentacostal tent-revival alter call
Everyone from town was there that day
When Virgil gave his soul away
They were praisin’ as I waited
    Outside the Gospel hall
Where we swore we’d never change
But it would never be the same

‘cause it was later on that year
the winter that our mama died
when I told Virgil I don’t want to hear
    ‘bout love & peace inside
‘cause if this God you know is good
how could he allow the pain
life’s been hard enough, so why would I want to be born again?

The other night, me & Virgil spoke
He travels with the Holy Ghost
Holding tent-revivals, he’s out to seek & save
Virgil says he’s been set free
By Jesus dying on a tree
& I’m not sure what I believe, my questions still remain
Virgil says that when he prays
He asks the Lord that I’d be saved
I guess some things never change

The Longest Way
  • I’d love to take my time
    I’d let myself unwind
‘cause sometimes it feels these wheels keep spinnin’
    at the speed of sound
    I’d take the scenic route
    Ain’t that what life’s about
I would stop and smell each and every single
    Rose I found

I’m so tired of sayin’ someday that we’ll do it
Grab the keys get in the car and let’s get to it

Let’s head north or east or west or south
Just as long as we go now
Let’s let these headlights slice the night away
    ‘Til the sun comes out
If all the fun’s in getting there
Then baby I have got a plan
    Let’s hit the road, c’mon let’s go
Let’s take the longest way we can

My heart’s restless, but it’s true
When it comes to lovin’ you
And that ain’t never gonna change no matter
    Where we are

This old world keeps laughin’ like it’s got us
Don’t know why we ever let it stop us

Bonus Track: Canadian Man
  • Canadian Man at your service
From the land of the chill
If I can’t warm you baby nobody will
    I’m a genuine Canadian Man

    Strong and free
    That’s the True North
    And baby, that’s me
I’ll salute you as long as need be
    I’m a genuine Canadian Man

    Well it’s hush-hush, while I mush-mush
    My dog-sled made for two
It’s cold outside, but ooo, what a ride
To the warmth of my igloo

Warm and dry, we’ll be sipping on cola and rye
Then I’ll bake you an Eskimo pie
    Your genuine Canadian Man

Well we’ll ride and glide over the Great Divide
    On my ’95 Ski-Doo
Sweet honey-child it’s the call of the wild
    When I’m calling you oooo

    Canadian Man
    That’s me the ice-breaker supreme
    Forget your “American dream”
And wake up to Canadian man

My Heart Has A History
  • My heart has a history
Of hurtin' those who mean the most to me
Before you get too close to me
    I think you oughta know
While other hearts are holdin' on
While other loves are growin' strong
My heart has a history of lettin' go

The first time I looked into your eyes
I knew this moment would arrive
    I got a feelin' you're the one
But my heart keeps tryin' to turn and run
The problem is this happens everytime (cause)

    My heart has a history
Of hurtin' those who mean the most to me
Before you get too close to me
    I think you oughta know
While other hearts are holdin' on
While other loves are growin' strong
My heart has a history of lettin' go

If we can take this one kiss at a time
Then maybe we can tame this heart of mine
I'm telling you the cold, hard truth
I ain't ever been loved by the likes of you
And I ain't ever had this much on the line, but

    My heart has a history
Of hurtin' those who mean the most to me
Before you get too close to me
    I think you oughta know
While other hearts are holdin' on
While other loves are growin' strong
My heart has a history of lettin' go

It's A Beautiful Thing
  • Looks like everybody's here
Had to put some folding chairs in the vestibule
    Yeah, it's getting full
    Even old Aunt Ruby came
Her first time on an aeroplain, it's her sister's girl
She said she wouldn't miss it for the world

And all them young'uns squirmin' in the pews
Mr. Charlie in his lime green suit is a handsome man
    Remarks widow Callahan
    Uncle Joe and Uncle Jake
    Haven't spoken since '88
    Just said Hello
It's a good day to let it go

So let the angels gather, let the music play
Let the preacher get to preachin' all the do you takes
    Love is a beautiful thing
Throw the rice in the air let the church bells ring
Tie the cans to the back of that limosine
(Two people in) Love is a beautiful thing

    Daddy's waitin' with the bride
As she helps him with his tie she sees a tear
He says it's hot in here
He hugs his little girl and asks
How did you grow up so fast, God I wish
Your momma could be here for this

    Everybody stands and smiles
As she comes walking down the aisle in her momma's gown
    And Daddy breaks on down
Gran and Gramps in the second row
Stood right there fifty years ago and said their vows
    I guess it's workin' out

So let the angels gather, let the music play
Let the preacher get to preachin' all the do you takes
    Love is a beautiful thing
Throw the rice in the air let the church bells ring
Tie the cans to the back of that limosine
(Two people in) Love is a beautiful thing

A little table full of gifts
Catering is coverdish and the wedding band
    Well that's on her hand
    Tommy's teasing Lorali
Pushed her down and made her cry
And neither one knows a day will come

When the angels gather, and the music play
The preacher get to preachin' all the do you takes
    Love is a beautiful thing
Throw the rice in the air let the church bells ring
Tie the cans to the back of that limosine
    Love, two people in Love
    It's a beautiful thing

    Love, it's a beautiful thing
    (Love, it's a beautiful thing)
Love, oh sweet Love, it's a beautiful thing
    (Love, it's a beautiful thing)
Love, oh love, it's a beautiful thing

I Do
  • I've seen the storm clouds in your past
But rest assured 'cause you are safe at home at last
I rescued you, you rescued me
And we're right where we should be when we're together

I know the questions in your mind
But go ahead and ask me one more time
You'll find the answer's still the same
It won't change from day to day
    For worse or better

Will I promise to be your best friend
And am I here until the end
Can I be sure I have been waiting for you
And did I say my love is true
    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do

I know the time will disappear
But this love we're building on will always be here
No way that this is sinking sand
On this solid rock we'll stand forever

Will I promise to be your best friend
And am I here until the end
Can I be sure I have been waiting for you
And did I say my love is true
    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do

    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have

I Meant To Do That
  • A rose in a box, wrapped up in dreams
A card that explains how much your love means
A table for two with soft candlelight
The words "I love you," somewhere in the night

    I meant to do that
    Does that mean a thing
    If you wanted songs
    Then I meant to sing
    I'd give you the world
    If you'd give mine back
    What I didn't do
    I meant to do that

Late in the night, nothing to say
Maybe a call to talk anyway
A letter or two with some words that rhyme
To promise you love, for now and all time

    I meant to do that
    Does that mean a thing
    If you wanted songs
    Then I meant to sing
    I'd give you the world
    If you'd give mine back
    What I didn't do
    I meant to do that

Hold onto the love you gave until the end of time
And love you more every day, until you know that

    I meant to do that
    Does that mean a thing
    If you wanted songs
    Then I meant to sing
    I'd give you the world

Take It From Me
  • If the river is high, I'll be your shore
If it's love you need, I'll give you more
You can count on me, baby, that's for sure
    I belong to you

If you cross the line, I'll cross it too
Anywhere you go, I'll be with you
We'll cry some tears, but we'll make it through
    As long as we're together

Everything in my heart I'll give you
Everything in my soul, it's yours
Everything that I am and ever will be
Take it from me, take it from me
    Take everything

I'll give you all that you can take
I made a promise, it will never break
You've got my heart, make no mistake
    Just take it from me

Everything in my heart I'll give you
Everything in my soul, it's yours
Everything that I am and ever will be
Take it from me, take it from me
    Take everything

Everything in my heart I'll give you
Everything in my soul, it's yours

Yeah
  • My heart's been beatin' faster
Does it mean that I'm in love
I just can't get enough of your smile
    I'm flyin' higher now
    Oh baby can't you see
    What you mean to me

    Do I want ya
    Do I love ya
Do I think the whole world of ya
Do I know that I'm a lucky man
Do I go to hold ya
    Need to squeeze ya
Feel my head reel when I see ya
Wonder does this mean I got it bad
    Yeah, yeah

You turn to walk my way
And it sends shivers down my spine
    Happens every time
    Like a waterfall keeps flowing
    I'm over the top
    Babe I just can't stop

    Do I want ya
    Do I love ya
Do I think the whole world of ya

A Little In Love
  • I'm really kinda bad at hedging my bets
Straddling the fence just to get my feet wet
It's sorta like me to jump on in
To see if I sink or swim
So maybe I'm a fool for taking this fall
But it's all for you or nothing at all
Too late for a little in love
    I'm all the way in

    Ain't no kinda, sorta, maybe
    When I'm holding you baby
    Halfway ain't near enough
    Every waking minute
Got my heart and soul in it
No I can't be just a little in love
No such thing as a little in love

    This is high wire walking
    I don't need a net
Parachute jumping, ain't pulled the cored yet
No turning back now, I'm goin' all the way down

    Ain't no kinda, sorta, maybe
    When I'm holding you baby
    Halfway ain't near enough
    Every waking minute
Got my heart and soul in it
No I can't be just a little in love
No such thing as a little in love

I might learn the hard way
    That's the chance I take
    Knowing there's no such thing
    As a little heartache

    Ain't no kinda, sorta, maybe
    When I'm holding you baby
    Halfway ain't near enough
    Every waking minute
Got my heart and soul in it
No I can't be just a little in love
No such thing as a little in love

No such thing as a little in love

The Sycamore Tree
  • In the sticks down an old dirt road in a small Kentucky town
When his daddy would come home
Out past the old dirt road in a sycamore tree
It is where little Zack would go
And high above the guilt and pain
The only place that he was safe
Was high above in the strong arms of the sycamore tree
You could hear a small voice in the wind sayin'
" Please, don't let him do that to me "
    In the sycamore tree

Time when on as it always does and his daddy's time had come
How he felt was hard to say
He often wondered how he'd even make it through
But as he buried him that day
He realized it's not my fault
And as the leaves began to fall
From high above in the strong arms of the sycamore tree
You could hear forgiveness in the wind
Singin' out " Find the truth and the truth will set you free"
    In the sycamore tree

And like answer to his praying
As he watched his child playin'
High above in the strong arms of the sycamore tree
You could hear a small voice in the wind
Sayin', " Daddy won't you come and play with me"
    In the sycamore tree
    The sycamore tree
    Forgiveness with set you free
    Forgiveness, forgiveness,

Outside The Frame
  • The shadows move slowly
    They climb up the walls
Till the light hits the metal and glass
    It shines through the dust
    Revealing the love
In an old black and white photograph
    That was before
    But it's not anymore

    'Cause outside the frame
You're getting on with your life
I wonder if I ever will
    'Cause inside my heart
I picture us frozen in time
Just you and I standing still
    Now everything's changed
    Outside the frame

    The look in your eyes
    Your hand in mine
And we're both holding on to a dream
I'm still trapped in that moment
    Where the sun always shines
And I don't ever want to be free
    No, I want to stay
    As the light fades away

    'Cause outside the frame
You're getting on with your life
I wonder if I ever will
    'Cause inside my heart
I picture us frozen in time
Just you and I standing still
    Now everything's changed
    Outside the frame

    Outside the frame
Where you're getting on with your life
And I know that I never will
    'Cause inside my heart
I picture us frozen in time
Just you and I standing still
    Now everything's changed
    Outside the frame

I keep waiting for something to change
But the picture inside stays the same
And the fact of the matter remains

There's Nothing I Wouldn't Do
  • I just can’t stand when we fight
Tears us apart and nobody ever wins
I know it just isn’t right
and from my heart I am telling you

I’m sorry for making you cry
I’ll wipe the tears from your eyes
    Please let me try again
To prove that my love is true

    There’s nothing I wouldn’t do
(swim cross the deepest sea to show you what you mean to me
give the love that you’ve been missin’ always take the time to listen)
    There’s nothing I wouldn’t do
(crawl across the desert sands to feel the soft touch of your hands
there’s no fire that I couldn’t walk through)
to prove to you that my love is true
    There’s nothing I wouldn’t do

You know you can lean on me
Things aren’t so bad that we can’t work it out
If there’s one thing I believe
It’s that trust will lead us through

Whatever it takes I’ll be there
Lay down your worries and cares
    That’s what love’s about
    Me promising you

What I Want To Be Remembered For
  • If you could see deep into my heart, feel what I’m feelin
It’s like I have become a part of history
    The greatest story ever told
    Your love has me believin’
Lovin’ you will be my legacy
    And you can trust
    I’ll remain true
    And all because of you

I want to live with my eyes open
When I’m down never quit hopin’
Keep the faith, keep the fire
Raise the bar a little higher
But most of all when all is said and done
And I stand at heaven’s door
    Lovin’ you
That’s what I want to be remembered for

Every road we travel down, I promise I’ll stand right beside you
I’ll do my best to be the man that you need me to be
I don’t have to change the world or even feel the need to try to
Lovin’ you, that’s enough for me
With all I am for all my life
For you it’s not a sacrifice

It's A Beautiful Thing
  • Looks like everybody's here
Had to put some folding chairs in the vestibule
    Yeah, it's getting full
    Even old Aunt Ruby came
Her first time on an aeroplain, it's her sister's girl
She said she wouldn't miss it for the world

And all them young'uns squirmin' in the pews
Mr. Charlie in his lime green suit is a handsome man
    Remarks widow Callahan
    Uncle Joe and Uncle Jake
    Haven't spoken since '88
    Just said Hello
It's a good day to let it go

So let the angels gather, let the music play
Let the preacher get to preachin' all the do you takes
    Love is a beautiful thing
Throw the rice in the air let the church bells ring
Tie the cans to the back of that limousine
(Two people in) Love is a beautiful thing

    Daddy's waitin' with the bride
As she helps him with his tie she sees a tear
He says it's hot in here
He hugs his little girl and asks
How did you grow up so fast, God I wish
Your momma could be here for this

    Everybody stands and smiles
As she comes walking down the aisle in her momma's gown
    And Daddy breaks on down
Gran and Gramps in the second row
Stood right there fifty years ago and said their vows
    I guess it's workin' out

So let the angels gather, let the music play
Let the preacher get to preachin' all the do you takes
    Love is a beautiful thing
Throw the rice in the air let the church bells ring
Tie the cans to the back of that limousine
(Two people in) Love is a beautiful thing

A little table full of gifts
Catering is coverdish and the wedding band
    Well that's on her hand
    Tommy's teasing Lorali
Pushed her down and made her cry
And neither one knows a day will come

When the angels gather, and the music play
The preacher get to preachin' all the do you takes
    Love is a beautiful thing
Throw the rice in the air let the church bells ring
Tie the cans to the back of that limousine
    Love, two people in Love
    It's a beautiful thing

    Love, it's a beautiful thing
    (Love, it's a beautiful thing)
Love, oh sweet Love, it's a beautiful thing

That Hurts
  • That hurts
Your baby told you it was over
And I'm just a friendly shoulder you can cry on
While I ache to take you into my arms
Of all the dreams in all the world
    There's nothing worse
Than meant to be and you don't see

That I wanted to be the one to make your knees weak
    Your hands shake
I wanted to be the one that you woke up to
    Held on to
But I never knew that touch
And you'll never know how much
    That hurts

    It's not fair
I have to be the great pretender
As if I don't remember all those sad prayers
That sounded good but got me nowhere
Of all the jokes in all the world
    How sad is this
To be so close and not let it show

That I wanted to be the one to make your knees weak
    Your hands shake
I wanted to be the one that you woke up to
    Held on to
But I never knew that touch
And you'll never know how much
    That hurts

Oh I wanted to be the one to make your knees weak
    Your hands shake
I wanted to be the one that you woke up to
    Held on to
But I never knew that touch
    And I wanted you so
But I have to let go
And you'll never know how much that hurts

There's A World Out There
  • When I was a boy
    I'd get so annoyed
    Whenever it was pouring rain
    Standin' at the glass door
Starin' at the outside nose pressed against the pane
    I told my momma
I don't wanna be stuck inside no more
Give me thunder and lightnin', somethin' excitin'
    That's what I'm livin' for

There's a world out there and I wanna be in it
I got a life and I'm gonna live it
Don't tell me the sky's the limit
    There's footprints on the moon
I wanna do my walkin' down the road less traveled
Sew my dreams where they won't unravel
If you play it safe you won't get nowhere
I can't stay in here when there's a world out there

    I remember back in school
They thought I was a fool
For askin' Lizzy Walker to the dance
She was always with the captain of the football team
Nobody thought I even have a chance
    But imagine my surprise
When she looked me in the eyes
And said I'll go with you instead
I knew we'd be together for the rest of forever
When Lizzy looked at me and said
    Hey baby

There's a world out there and I wanna be in it
I got a life and I'm gonna live it
Don't tell me the sky's the limit
    There's footprints on the moon
I wanna do my walkin' down the road less traveled
Sew my dreams where they won't unravel
If you play it safe you won't get nowhere
I can't stay in here when there's a world out there

I imagine when they land on a brand new planet
    In some far off galaxy
Somebody in the rocket's gonna look out the window
Feeling just like Lizzy and me

There's a world out there and I wanna be in it
I got a life and I'm gonna live it
Don't tell me the sky's the limit
    There's footprints on the moon
I wanna do my walkin' down the road less traveled
Sew my dreams where they won't unravel
If you play it safe you won't get nowhere
I can't stay in here when there's a world out there

If you play it safe you won't get nowhere
You can't stay in here when there's a world out there

(No, I just can't do it)
    There's a world out there
(Don't even try and play it safe)
    No, no, no
    (You're not gonna get anywhere)
    No, no, no

The Sycamore Tree
  • In the sticks down an old dirt road in a small Kentucky town
When his daddy would come home
Out past the old dirt road in a sycamore tree
It is where little Zack would go
And high above the guilt and pain
The only place that he was safe
Was high above in the strong arms of the sycamore tree
You could hear a small voice in the wind sayin'
" Please, don't let him do that to me "
    In the sycamore tree

Time when on as it always does and his daddy's time had come
How he felt was hard to say
He often wondered how he'd even make it through
But as he buried him that day
He realized it's not my fault
And as the leaves began to fall
From high above in the strong arms of the sycamore tree
You could hear forgiveness in the wind
Singin' out " Find the truth and the truth will set you free"
    In the sycamore tree

And like answer to his praying
As he watched his child playin'
High above in the strong arms of the sycamore tree
You could hear a small voice in the wind
Sayin', " Daddy won't you come and play with me"
    In the sycamore tree
    The sycamore tree
    Forgiveness with set you free
    Forgiveness, forgiveness,

A Love That Strong
  • If love was a river rushin' down to the sea
I'd wanna jump right in to the middle of it
    Let it carry me
And pullin' me under and takin' my breath away
Rollin' with the flow wherever it goes
    Whatever it takes

I want a love that strong
I want a love that wild
I want to dig that deep
I want to reach that high
One that'll last a whole life long
I want a love that strong

A man and a woman sittin' in a small cafe
They met fifty years ago in those same two chairs
    On this very day
He still brings her flowers just to hear that little laugh
She still thinks he's a knight in shining amour
And it's as simple as that

I want a love that strong
I want a love that wild
I want to dig that deep
I want to reach that high
One that'll last a whole life long
I want a love that strong

I want a love that strong
I want a love that wild
I want to dig that deep
I want to reach that high
One that'll last a whole life long
I want a love that strong
I want a love that wild
I want to dig that deep
I want to reach that high
One that'll last a whole life long

Add 'Em All Up
  • If you took all the feelin's that everybody's feelin'
    In love tonight
All the slow dances and lingerin' glances
    In the pale moonlight
All the stolen kisses and sweet nothin' whispers
    Straight from the heart
Put 'em end to end and then you'd have a pretty good start

    And add 'em all up
    Add 'em all up
It's perfectly clear what you got there
    Wouldn't be near enough
    Add 'em all up
    Add 'em all up
    Just take the bottom line
Multiply by five, it's larger than life
That's how I'd describe our love

Take every heart beatin' that's a reelin' from the feelin'
    Of a true love found
Every angel singin', every church bell ringin'
    Out glory bound
Every new beginnin', every happy endin'
    >From the silver screen
Put 'em all together, it'll never match you and me

    And add 'em all up
    Add 'em all up
It's perfectly clear what you got there
    Wouldn't be near enough
    Add 'em all up
    Add 'em all up
    Just take the bottom line
Multiply by five, it's larger than life
That's how I'd describe our love

    Add 'em all up
    Add 'em all up
It's perfectly clear what you got there
    Wouldn't be near enough
    Add 'em all up
    Add 'em all up
    Just take the bottom line
Multiply by five, it's larger than life
Not to be denied on any given night
That's how I'd describe our love
Oh baby it's a fact this love we have
Is off the map, bigger than that
That's how I describe our love

Scrap Piece Of Paper
  • Well, in a little bitty nitty gritty one horse town
Right side up or upside down
A tiny piece of paper got stuck to a boot
And it stayed there stuck for about an hour or two
'Til the man climbed in his truck and he kicked it loose
Yeah and just like that it was back on the move

It got run over thirty-seven times in the street
'Til a bird picked it up 'cause it looked like something to eat
But it was finally dropped on the courthouse steps
The breeze started blowing and guess what was next
It blew in a car window gave an old man a scare
Caused a six-car pile up on the downtown square

    It was floatin' around
    High in the air
Even if you looked you may not see it there
It's just one of those things
    We rarely ever think about
Yeah it could come from a hamburger bag or a bubble gum wrapper
It's a day in the life of a little scrap piece of paper
    There it goes...here it comes

Two people in the shadows where they couldn't be seen
Both of them was wearin' someone else's ring
She said here's my new number, you better write it down
So he grabbed that piece of paper just a layin' on the ground
He folded it up, and put it in his jeans
'Til it was found by his wife at her washing machine

Well, she threw it in the trash, yeah she took it out the door
Well that's her job 'cause he don't live there no more
She put it by the curb in a rubber maid bin
'Til the neighbour's dog Spot knocked it over again
It was set free when the cold wind blew
Yeah and just like that it was back on the move

    A just a floatin' around
    High in the air
Even if you looked you may not see it there
It's just one of those things
    We rarely ever think about
Yeah it could come from a hamburger bag or a bubble gum wrapper

Really and Truly
  • If a fallin' heart could make a sound
Then you would hear mine for miles around
If what I feel became a light
Then there would be no darkness in this night
They say you know when it's real
Baby I can tell you it's true

    'Cause really and truly
    I think we should be
Together like this for as long as we both are
    Livin', breathin'
I'll be everything you need and more
I'll be really and truly yours

If love's a gift to give away
For you, I swear, it'd be Christmas every day
If love could keep you free from harm
The safest place for you is in my arms
And if I reveal too much too soon
Well, I'm just bein' honest with you

    Really and truly
    I think we should be
Together like this for as long as we both are
    Livin', breathin'
I'll be everything you need and more
I'll be really and truly yours, oh

    Have me, hold me
    In that sweet moment
    It'll be for sure
I'll be really and truly yours

Let's Live It Up
  • You only go around once on this big spinnin' planet of love
So don't be wastin' my time
Tell me what you're dreamin' of
We'll take a rocket to the moon and when we get that far
I'll hang your coat and hat up on a shooting star
    Let's live it up!
    Let's live it up!
    Let's live it up!

Hang up the cat put the dog out to dry, my my
Roll up the bird and let the alligator wave bye-bye
We'll take a slow gin to China
    A train to Peru
In a rusty old steamer or a leaky canoe
    Let's live it up!
    Let's live it up!
    Let's live it up!

Around the block in a hot balloon
    Sounds awfully good to me
Or a seat on the wing of a jumbo jet
    Flyin' straight to Mercury
    What's the matter with me
Baby I've been such a fool
Let's hop on a raft and navigate around in the pool
We'll take a rocket to the moon and when we get that far
I'll hang your coat and hat up on a shooting star
    Let's live it up!
    Let's live it up!
    Let's live it up!

A swing around the block in a hot balloon
    Sounds awfully good to me
Or a seat on the wing of a jumbo jet
    Flyin' straight to Mercury
    What's the matter with me
Baby I've been such a fool (who do you think you're foolin')
Let's hop on a raft and navigate around in the pool
And take a rocket to the moon and when we get that far
I'll hang your coat and hat up on a shooting star
    Let's live it up!
    Let's live it up!
Don't you ever think about givin' it up
    Let's live it up!
    Let's live it up!

PB Christmas: Shall I Play for You (1997)Listen Now

Little Drummer Boy
  • Come they told me
    A newborn King to see
    Our finest gifts we bring
    To lay before the King
    So to honour Him
    When we come

    Baby Jesus
I am a poor boy too
I have no gift to bring
that's fit to give a King
    Shall I play for you
    on my drum

    Mary nodded
the ox and lamb kept time
I played my drum for Him
I played my best for Him
    Then He smiled at me
    Me and my drum

Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy
  • Santa looked a lot like Daddy
Or Daddy looked a lot like him
It's not the way I had him pictured
    Santa was much too thin
Well he didn't come down the chimney
So Mama must have let him in
Santa looked a lot like Daddy
Or Daddy looked a lot like him

Well they thought that I was fast a sleepin'
They thought that I was tucked in bed
They never thought that I'd come a peepin'
Or that I'd hear what was said
Santa put his arm around Momma
And Momma put her arm around him
So if Santa Claus ain't Daddy
Then I'm gonna tell on them

Santa looked a lot like Daddy
Or Daddy looked a lot like him
It's not the way I had him pictured
    Santa was much too thin
Well he didn't come down the chimney
So Mama must have let him in
Santa looked a lot like Daddy
Or Daddy looked a lot like him

I never saw Dancer or Prancer
I never heard the sleigh bells ring
I never saw the red nosed reindeer
Like they show him on the TV screen
But he sure brought a lot of presents
So Santa Claus he must have been

Santa looked a lot like Daddy
Or Daddy looked a lot like him
It's not the way I had him pictured
    Santa was much too thin
Well he didn't come down the chimney
So Mama must have let him in

What Child Is This
  • What child is this who laid to rest
    On Mary's lap is sleeping
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
    While shepherds watch are keeping

This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring Him laud
The babe the Son of Mary

Why lies He in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding
Good Christian fear for sinners here
    The silent word is pleading

So bring him incense gold and myrrh
Come peasant king to own him
The King of Kings salvation brings
    Let loving hearts enthrone Him

    Santa make him hurry
Tell him he can take the freeway down
    Run Run Rudolph
'Cause I'm reelin' like a merry go round

    Said Santa to a boy
Child what have you been longing for?
All I want for Christmas is a
    Rock and roll electric guitar
    And then away went Rudolph
    Whizzin' like a shootin' star

    Said Santa to a girl
Child what would please you most to get?
A little baby doll that can cry, sleep, drink, and wet
    And then away went Rudolph
    Whizzin' like a saber jet

    Run Run Rudolph

A Star Is Born
  • Christmas time again
the perfect end to a not-so-perfect year
    at last it's here
    Hustle-bustle to and fro
from store to store to get one more
of whatever is in style this year

On the marquis sign at 5 and 9
the latest movie shows, and it starts to snow
    Children look into the sky
to see if reindeer really fly
    Who knows
But when it comes down to this season
Above it all there's still a reason
    To just look up

    A star is born tonight
    Come to make things right
    Angels singing, anthems ringing
    Glory to the King
    A star is born tonight

Silent, holy night, heaven's sacred light
    shines all around
    and joy resounds
In manger hay the baby Jesus came to seek
    and save the lost
    Until they're found
Peace on earth a new beginning
He's the gift that keeps on giving
    To all of us

Glory hallelujah, glory to the King of Kings
Merry Christmas to you all the joy the season brings

    Angels singing, anthems ringing
    Glory to the King

The Way In A Manger
  • We were alone in the fields with our sheep
A star in the sky glowing bright in the east
When an angelic choir singing all glory be
to God in the highest, bade us come see (they said)

The way in a manger is a babe fast asleep
He's never a stranger to wise men who seek
The light and the hope for all of mankind
He's the way in the manger
    And He's easy to find

Mary and Joseph were there when we came
and all that the angels had said was the same
And when I saw the baby, I knew just what to do
I bowed down to worship the light and the truth

    The light and the hope
    For all of mankind
He's the way in a manger
    And He's easy to find

Jingle Bells
  • Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
    O'er the fields we go
    Laughing all the way
    Bells on bobtails ring
    Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
    A sleighing song tonight

    Oh, Jingle bells, jingle bells
    Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
    Jingle bells, jingle bells
    Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
    In a one-horse open sleigh

    A day or two ago
    I thought I'd take a ride
    And soon Miss Fanny Bright
    Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank
    Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
    And then we got upsot

Silent Night
  • Silent night, Holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
    Sleep in Heavenly peace
    Sleep in Heavenly peace

    Silent night, Holy night
    Shepherds quake at the sight
    Glories stream from Heaven afar
    Heavenly hosts sing Hallelujah
    Christ, the Savior is born
    Christ, the Savior is born

    Silent night, Holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from thy Holy face

Six Tons Of Toys
  • At the old north pole
Got my rig all loaded with toys
Got a sack full of goodies
For good little girls and boys
    Big dipper lookin' so bright
    Milky way traffic is light
    Got six tons of toys
For the girls and boys tonight

    Got the same ol' sleigh
    And good ol' reindeer power
    Got no speed zones
Yeah we're makin' the zero hour
    Everything's lookin' so white
    Housetop's comin' into sight
    Got six tons of toys
For the girls and boys tonight

Well it's been a whole year
Since we've been down this way
    So on Christmas eve
    We overload the sleigh
    Everything will be alright

O Holy Night
  • O holy night, the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
'Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices for wonder breaks
    A new and glorious morn
    Fall on your knees
    Oh hear the angel voices
    O night divine
O night when Christ was born
    O night

Outside the Frame (1997)Listen Now

Chain Reaction
  • My eyes saw you and sent a warning
    Straight to my brain
My heart started pounding in my chest
    Like a runaway train
I felt my hands start to sweat
And my knees start to buckle
    A shiver down my spine
And I knew I was in trouble
    Never dreamed forever could've ever
    Fell together like this

All it took was one kiss one touch
Like a long line of dominoes
    I'm fallin in love
It's a physical, spiritual, chemical strong attraction
Girl you've started an unstoppable chain reaction

The way you smile at me
    It ignites an undeniable spark
The way you walk through a room
It's enough to make a fire start
    Like the lightning flashing
    Then the thunder rollin'
I'll follow you wherever you're goin'
Now I've got a reason for believin' in a feelin' like this

All it took was one kiss one touch
Like a long line of dominoes
    I'm fallin in love

A Little In Love
  • I'm really kinda bad at hedging my bets
Straddling the fence just to get my feet wet
It's sorta like me to jump on in
To see if I sink or swim
So maybe I'm a fool for taking this fall
But it's all for you or nothing at all
Too late for a little in love
    I'm all the way in

    Ain't no kinda, sorta, maybe
    When I'm holding you baby
    Halfway ain't near enough
    Every waking minute
Got my heart and soul in it
No I can't be just a little in love
No such thing as a little in love

    This is high wire walking
    I don't need a net
Parachute jumping, ain't pulled the cored yet
No turning back now, I'm goin' all the way down

    Ain't no kinda, sorta, maybe
    When I'm holding you baby
    Halfway ain't near enough
    Every waking minute
Got my heart and soul in it
No I can't be just a little in love
No such thing as a little in love

I might learn the hard way
    That's the chance I take
    Knowing there's no such thing
    As a little heartache

    Ain't no kinda, sorta, maybe
    When I'm holding you baby
    Halfway ain't near enough
    Every waking minute
Got my heart and soul in it
No I can't be just a little in love
No such thing as a little in love

No such thing as a little in love

What's Come Over You
  • Something's missing, something's wrong
Something's not right where it belongs
Why am I doubting what I thought I knew
    What's come over you

Where's the laughter where's that touch
That made me feel you were in love
    I pray it's just a phase you're going through
    What's come over you

I can roll with the tide, come in from the rain
Turn my back to the wind, stand my share of pain
But if you don't love me there's nothing I can do
    What's come over you

All these memories of all those times
Make it so hard to say goodbye
To all those dreams we shared that won't come true
    What's come over you

I can roll with the tide, come in from the rain
Turn my back to the wind, stand my share of pain
But if you don't love me there's nothing I can do
    What's come over you

One
  • Don't expect me to just stand back
And let this one go by
This kind of love comes along one forever at a time
Girl, I'd be crazy not to try
I've got one chance to make you mine

Two hearts, two minds, almost out of countrol
But it's like it was planned...and
Two lives, two souls come together that way
    When you take my hand
Hard to believe what has begun
I never knew two could become...
    One

I love the way it feels each time you look at me
Can't imagine wanting more, you fill my every need
I feel your heartbeat next to mine
It's saying years from now we'll find

Two hearts, two minds, almost out of countrol
But it's like it was planned...and
Two lives, two souls come together that way
    When you take my hand
Hard to believe what has begun
I never knew two could become...

I Believe You
  • There's a dealer with a car
He can sell you for a song
There's a psychic on the air
Got a hot line to your palm
There's another politician who's makin' news
With a brand new twist on his version of the truth
They got powders they got pills with an x factor in it
    Supposed to make you look
Ten years younger in a minute
They try to sell you dreams, well I ain't buyin' what they sell
But baby when you tell me there could be nobody else

I believe you, I just look in your eyes
I believe you, a true heart never lies
It's more that just a feeling, it's a matter of faith
When you tell me our forever won't fade away
I believe you, I believe you
    Yes I do

There are golden guarantees right above the dotted line
Promises to keep, all you gotta do is sign
That's just paper-thin trust, but I can tell you this
When you tell me that you love me
And then seal it with a kiss

I believe you, I just look in your eyes
I believe you, a true heart never lies
It's more that just a feeling, it's a matter of faith
When you tell me our forever won't fade away
I believe you, I believe you
    Yes I do

I believe you, I just look in your eyes

Yeah
  • My heart's been beatin' faster
Does it mean that I'm in love
I just can't get enough of your smile
    I'm flyin' higher now
    Oh baby can't you see
    What you mean to me

    Do I want ya
    Do I love ya
Do I think the whole world of ya
Do I know that I'm a lucky man
Do I go to hold ya
    Need to squeeze ya
Feel my head reel when I see ya
Wonder does this mean I got it bad
    Yeah, yeah

You turn to walk my way
And it sends shivers down my spine
    Happens every time
    Like a waterfall keeps flowing
    I'm over the top
    Babe I just can't stop

    Do I want ya
    Do I love ya
Do I think the whole world of ya
Do I know that I'm a lucky man
Do I go to hold ya
    Need to squeeze ya

We Are The One
  • Unaware angel falling into sleep
I never quite believed that I'd get in this deep
    I don't have a doubt
    We are the one
Oh I love to watch you as the day begins
    Sun comes through the window
    Starts to kiss your skin
    Chase the shadows out
    We are the one

We're the story told since time began
We're what heaven holds inside her hand
We're the one thing I never knew I needed
    But you completed me and
    We are the one

I want to be with you as the years go by
I know I won't be perfect, but for you I'll try
    That's what love's about
    We are the one

We're the story told since time began
We're what heaven holds inside her hand
We're the one thing I never knew I needed

Start Forever Over Again
  • They say diamonds are forever
    Their beauty will always remain
But put the two of us together
And those stones just roll away

Time goes by and rivers run dry
And mountains will crumble and fall
On that final day, when the smoke clears away
One thing will stand through it all
And the way our love is goin'
When this world comes to an end
We'll just start forever over again

When the colors all fade from the rainbow
And the ocean has swallowed the sun
Our two hearts heaven made will still love just the same
When everything is said and done

Time goes by and rivers run dry
And mountains will crumble and fall
On that final day, when the smoke clears away
One thing will stand through it all
And the way our love is goin'

Dry Eye
  • Pulled down that cardboard box from the attic
The one with the letters from you
Put on those old records while I was at it
The ones that we fell in love to
Thought we were over what a crazy notion
    I should have realized
I'd lose the fight against this flood of emotion
    Welling up from deep inside

There's not a dry eye in the house tonight
Just a raging river of heartache and pride
There's not a memory that doesn't cut like a knife
Of me letting you just walk out of my life
Every teardrop is a visible sign
Of me missing you coming out
There's not a dry eye in the house
Every picture of when we were together
    Tear stained and falling apart
Chances I didn't take, regrets and mistakes
I know them all by broken heart

Outside The Frame
  • The shadows move slowly
    They climb up the walls
Till the light hits the metal and glass
    It shines through the dust
    Revealing the love
In an old black and white photograph
    That was before
    But it's not anymore

    'Cause outside the frame
You're getting on with your life
I wonder if I ever will
    'Cause inside my heart
I picture us frozen in time
Just you and I standing still
    Now everything's changed
    Outside the frame

    The look in your eyes
    Your hand in mine
And we're both holding on to a dream
I'm still trapped in that moment
    Where the sun always shines
And I don't ever want to be free
    No, I want to stay
    As the light fades away

    'Cause outside the frame
You're getting on with your life
I wonder if I ever will
    'Cause inside my heart
I picture us frozen in time
Just you and I standing still
    Now everything's changed
    Outside the frame

    Outside the frame
Where you're getting on with your life
And I know that I never will
    'Cause inside my heart
I picture us frozen in time
Just you and I standing still
    Now everything's changed
    Outside the frame

I keep waiting for something to change
But the picture inside stays the same
And the fact of the matter remains

Calm Before the Storm (1996)Listen Now
  • Calm Before the Storm (1996) The one that got it all started, with the quintessential Country wedding standard 'I Do', and the 'warning with a wink' rocker, 'My Heart Has A History', this CD was the world's introduction to Paul Brandt. After being discovered in a talent contest in Canada, Paul was signed to a development deal in Nashville, TN by Reprise Records, during which time he recorded the songs 'I Do', 'My Heart Has A History', and 'Take It From Me'. Upon seeing the promise of these recordings, he was signed to a full record deal, finished the project, hit the road, and made Country Music history with this multi-platinum recording.
My Heart Has A History
  • My heart has a history
Of hurtin' those who mean the most to me
Before you get too close to me
    I think you oughta know
While other hearts are holdin' on
While other loves are growin' strong
My heart has a history of lettin' go

The first time I looked into your eyes
I knew this moment would arrive
    I got a feelin' you're the one
But my heart keeps tryin' to turn and run
The problem is this happens everytime (cause)

    My heart has a history
Of hurtin' those who mean the most to me
Before you get too close to me
    I think you oughta know
While other hearts are holdin' on
While other loves are growin' strong
My heart has a history of lettin' go

If we can take this one kiss at a time
Then maybe we can tame this heart of mine
I'm telling you the cold, hard truth
I ain't ever been loved by the likes of you
And I ain't ever had this much on the line, but

    My heart has a history
Of hurtin' those who mean the most to me
Before you get too close to me
    I think you oughta know
While other hearts are holdin' on
While other loves are growin' strong
My heart has a history of lettin' go
Yeah, my heart has a history of lettin' go

Take It From Me
  • If the river is high, I'll be your shore
If it's love you need, I'll give you more
You can count on me, baby, that's for sure
    I belong to you

If you cross the line, I'll cross it too
Anywhere you go, I'll be with you
We'll cry some tears, but we'll make it through
    As long as we're together

Everything in my heart I'll give you
Everything in my soul, it's yours
Everything that I am and ever will be
Take it from me, take it from me
    Take everything

I'll give you all that you can take
I made a promise, it will never break
You've got my heart, make no mistake
    Just take it from me

Everything in my heart I'll give you
Everything in my soul, it's yours
Everything that I am and ever will be
Take it from me, take it from me
    Take everything

Everything in my heart I'll give you
Everything in my soul, it's yours
Everything that I am and ever will be
Take it from me, take it from me
    Take everything

Everything in my heart I'll give you
Everything in my soul, it's yours
Everything that I am and ever will be

I Do
  • I've seen the storm clouds in your past
But rest assured 'cause you are safe at home at last
I rescued you, you rescued me
And we're right where we should be when we're together

I know the questions in your mind
But go ahead and ask me one more time
You'll find the answer's still the same
It won't change from day to day
    For worse or better

Will I promise to be your best friend
And am I here until the end
Can I be sure I have been waiting for you
And did I say my love is true
    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do

I know the time will disappear
But this love we're building on will always be here
No way that this is sinking sand
On this solid rock we'll stand forever

Will I promise to be your best friend
And am I here until the end
Can I be sure I have been waiting for you
And did I say my love is true
    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do

12 Step Recovery
  • You walked out and my world caved in
I couldn't get back on my feet again
I tried self-help books, even meditation
Searched the want-ads out of desperation

The classified said, "Attention Broken Hearts
Meet at Murphy's Lounge at 8:00 sharp"
I got there early and the man at the door
Said, "We've got the cure you've been searching for"
He handed me a list and said, "Here's what you need
The rules of the 12 step recover"

    1. Friday nights
    2. Neon lights
    3. Find a party crowd
    4. Jukebox
    5. Let it rock
    6. Let your hair down
    7. Howl at the moon
    8. Shoot a little pool
    9. Get out on the dance floor with somebody
    10. Let the tables turn
    11. Let the bridges burn
    12. Let go of the memory
That's the mend a broken heart, make a new start,
    12 step recovery

Well I gotta admit I had my doubts at first
But I figured, what the heck, let's see if it works
So, I followed each step down to the letter
Almost right away I started feeling better
Instead of missing you, now you'll find me
    Practicing the 12 step recovery

I Meant To Do That
  • A rose in a box, wrapped up in dreams
A card that explains how much your love means
A table for two with soft candlelight
The words "I love you," somewhere in the night

    I meant to do that
    Does that mean a thing
    If you wanted songs
    Then I meant to sing
    I'd give you the world
    If you'd give mine back
    What I didn't do
    I meant to do that

Late in the night, nothing to say
Maybe a call to talk anyway
A letter or two with some words that rhyme
To promise you love, for now and all time

    I meant to do that
    Does that mean a thing
    If you wanted songs
    Then I meant to sing
    I'd give you the world
    If you'd give mine back
    What I didn't do
    I meant to do that

Hold onto the love you gave until the end of time
And love you more every day, until you know that

    I meant to do that
    Does that mean a thing

One And Only One
  • I thought love at first sight was a fate for someone else
And you'd never catch me fallin' that fast myself
But I didn't even need two seconds alone with you
All it took was one and only one

Now, I see me bein' faithful, me bein' true
Holdin' on and never lettin' go of you
    Girl, look what you've done
The only thing I want is you lovin' me
And from now on the only thing I want to be
Is your one and only one, one and only one

You've got a heaven sent heart and an angel's touch
Not to mention your kiss that I can't get enough of
And when I see your smile this feelin' deep, down inside
Tells me you're my one and only one

Now, I see me bein' faithful, me bein' true
Holdin' on and never lettin' go of you
    Girl, look what you've done

All Over Me
  • I can tell by the way that she's all over him
She must be all over me
And the tales I've been told I am finally believing
    I can't deny what I see
This old barroom is full of suspected surprises
Just like they said it would be
And I can tell by the way that she's all over him
She must be all over me

I guess I should have known by the way she's been acting
This is just how it would be
All I ever wanted was her love everlasting
Looks like she wants to be free
And I can tell by the way that she's all over him
She must be all over me

I'm standing here and my heart goes to pieces
Along with all of my dreams
She's on the dance floor with her arms tied around him
I wish they were wrapped around me

I guess I should have known by the way she's been acting
This is just how it would be
All I ever wanted was her love everlasting
Looks like she wants to be free
And I can tell by the way that she's all over him

Calm Before The Storm
  • Your blue eyes looked so peaceful
While the storm raged on in me
The tears filled up my eyes and now I finally see
I've been livin' high and mighty
But now I'm at an all-time low
Now I'm reaching out to hold you
As you turn around to go

    I should've been more careful
    I should've seen the signs
While all was calm, I guess
I should've read between the lines
So, now I'm standin' in the cold, hard rain
Instead of with you safe and warm
A fool who took your love for granted
In the calm before the storm

    So, I'm standin' here alone
I've never felt like this before
Can't believe my heart's been broken
Just like waves against the shore
I could always love and leave them
I was the first one out the door
I can't get used to the idea
    Not being with you anymore

    I should've been more careful
    I should've seen the signs
While all was calm, I guess
I should've read between the lines
So, now I'm standin' in the cold, hard rain

On The Inside
  • I was watchin' the crowd as you walked
    through the door
How easy you captured their eyes
And it wasn't your dress and it wasn't my drink
You lit up the room with your smile
When you sat down beside me I felt like a king
    Completely taken by you
And I was sorry for every man in this world
Who doesn't know you like I do

Oh, I love how you move and the way your hair flows
But there's so much more I want you to know
I love how it feels when I look in your eyes
'Cause you're even more beautiful on the inside

You've stayed by my side through some very hard times
And you've always been faithful and true
You're a picture of grace under pressure
Honey, nobody cares like you do

Oh, I love how you move and the way your hair flows
But there's so much more I want you to know
I love how it feels when I look in your eyes
'Cause you're even more beautiful on the inside

Pass Me By
  • Well, look at what walked down the street today
She wanted me to be one more mistake to make
Just a bridge to cross to get to someone new
Hey, pass me by if you're only passing through

No, I don't want to be no stepping stone
Among the other hearts that you've walked on
And I don't know what you think you've run into
Hey, pass me by if you're only passing through

Well, you sure look like the traveling kind to me
Don't stop if this ain't where you want to be
Lord, help me if I fall in love with you
Hey, pass me by if you're only passing through
